I challenged myself to paint faster than I could think.
Decide, respond, decide respond, decide respond and so on until the light changed.
…and it was changing fast.
Almost immediately, I shocked myself with an accidentally-extreme color choice.
For about three seconds, I worried and then, instead of subduing the color to make it more “accurate,” I decided just to go for it, applying increasingly vibrant colors as I progressed.
I also changed brushes frequently and rapidly. Even if I picked a brush that seemed “wrong,” I made at least a few strokes with it anyway.
I thought less and felt more.
…and while I’m not sure if it’s a successful painting, I’m inspired and eager to try again.
Does your head ever get in the way of your heart when making art?
…if so, how do you respond?
