Very instructive, many thanks. I was especially intrigued with your "mini-selections" using the Lasso tool during the late rendering stage; e.g., just selecting a small part of an arm or torso, rather than the entire section.

Somehow you were able to render inside that small area without leaving any obvious edges around the selection border-- a very neat trick! How exactly did you NOT leaving edges around the selection border? Would appreciate your explaining that-- or trying to!! : )

Impressive work chris! I love the warp tool! its so easy to fix proportional issues and just as something different, I love using the path tool as well, so I can save my selections of the painting and can use them in the future instead of re-selecting. Looking forward to part 2 &3

Thanks, Ian. 6.5 hours is on the fast side for me. One of my full VisDev paintings at Disney can take anywhere between 2.5 to 5 days depending on the complexity of the subject. a more loose painting like the Robot Bug featured in the banner of my site took less time where my Ninja Turtles and Skeletor pieces took a little longer.

Chris,

Hey. Thanks. Great video. I agree with Tom on the warp tool and enjoyed seeing the lasso tool used in a way I have not tried, also.

Looking forward to #2 and 3.

Hey Chris, I'm a new subscriber, rediscovering my artistic side and this is the first video I've been able to watch from you so far.

I'm blown away at how simple you make it look, but on the same token I can see the complexities that go into your work. I'm also really glad you mentioned how long the painting took in total. That in itself managed my expectations for when I give it a go. (x 2+5 hours on top of course.)

I can't wait for part 2!

Hey Chris, really informative part 1. I never thought to use the warp tool to modify the line - that's a great tip.

Question - what is the radial menu that keeps popping up? Is that something from the digital pen? It happens too fast to see.
